Instagram your wedding

Are you in love with social media? Want to share your wedding on Instagram? Here are the tips on how to succeed.

Today we all live with the cell phone in our hand, and although the phone can be disruptive sometimes, it facilitates contact with loved ones. It’s actually very fun and inspiring for everyone to see friends’ wedding pictures. But, during the wedding ceremony itself, our advice is to ask guests to turn off the cell phones and let a photographer or just one of your friends take the pictures.

Do it like a pro: # start with your own hashtag

Start by creating a personal hashtag, such as #tinaandjamesbigday #mr&mrshansson, #weddingmaryandpeter or #annathomaswedding. Make sure the tag is not already used by anyone else. Send it to all your friends and wedding guests and ask them to tag all pictures with it. Why? Because all images with your personal hashtag will be visible in the same feed, like a photo album. A cool way to motivate everyone to participate in the event is to communicate the tag in your own social networking profiles a few weeks in advance.

You can also include the tag in the invitations you send to your guests and place them on the tables during the wedding party so that no one misses to tag the pictures they take.

Arrange a “photocall” at the party

It is really trendy to organize photocalls at wedding parties. A photocall is nothing else than an arrangement with a background, a frame and/or accessories where guests take pictures of each other. Everyone loves taking pictures when they are dressed up.

Start sharing details as you plan your wedding. Everything you enjoy is fun. Your friends will love to see what happens on the backstage and how you prepare for the big day. Share when choosing the dress, when looking for shoes, when choosing flowers, rings, menu, anything you want.

When the big day finally arrives, you can take some pictures when you wake up. Post pictures as you prepare. Ask your friends to take pictures when you arrive at the church, when you come out, when you arrive at the party, etc. Don’t forget to ask them NOT to use cell phones during the wedding ceremony so as not to ruin the important moment. Relax, you don’t have to think about taking pictures of everything and can focus on enjoying your big day. You will later be able to pick and choose from hundreds of nice photos that you didn’t even notice when your guests took.

If you want to end the day perfectly, you can post a final photo when you get home, or to the hotel, and thank everyone who was there and those who congratulated.

A few weeks later you can remind everyone of the hashtag you chose so that they remember to log in to Instagram and look.
