Platinum Rings – Crème de la crème!
Platinum rings are very beautiful and platinum is the most exclusive metal from which you make jewellery. Platinum is an element that is classified as a transition metal (the elements in the middle part of the periodic system) on the periodic system. It is also known as a precious metal, and it is very rare. Platinum is a very hard but a workable metal, so it is used to make super strong wedding rings and engagement rings. But like most precious metals, platinum must be alloyed (mixed) with another metals – usually cobalt, tungsten, ruthenium, iridium or palladium. However, platinum is one of the heaviest metals used to make jewellery. Platinum weighs more than gold and in this way it becomes a more exclusive feeling. Platinum rings have a fantastic white color and it is incredibly durable. If you are looking for a really unique ring, something out of the ordinary you should choose a platinum ring. The price may be higher than on other rings but they undoubtedly last a lifetime and a little more. Our rings in platinum are also completely allergy free (hypoallergenic).
Our platinum alloys:
Since our company was founded in 1922, we have been constantly been working on developing the best alloys. We have therefore chosen to work with two platinum alloys suitable for different types of rings. The alloys that we consider to be of the highest quality in engagement and wedding rings are Platinum mixed with either Wolfram/Tungsten or Cobalt.
We use Platinum 950 with Wolfram (tungsten) on all our plain gold rings and our pairings set with recessed diamonds. This is the most hard and durable alloy and is most suitable for rings that do not require shaping the material, such as putting a large diamond in a “claw” on a solitaire ring.
We use Platinum 950 / Cobalt for our solitaire rings, side stone rings & halo rings, where it is required that the metal is more workable in order to put “claws” around the middle stone.
Both alloys are strong and durable and have an extremely light finish and shine.
All rings from “Rings of Sweden Collection” can be ordered in Platinum 950.
